I have always loved anything German Chocolate flavored. Something about the combination of chocolate, pecans and coconut is just heavenly. So I set out in my kitchen determined to create a German Chocolate flavored brownie recipe that was paleo. The result was a delicious, gluten-free, fudgy brownie that was a hit at game night!
I love fudgy brownies. These were flavorful and rich, and the icing was tasty! These were not very difficult to make and were well received when I brought them to game night.
I love the gooey icing, which is full of coconut and pecans to complete the flavor combination. These were some of my favorite paleo brownies that I have made.
These Paleo German Chocolate Brownies are a fudgy, paleo brownie made with whole-food ingredients. The flavors of cacao, coconut and pecans come together to make for a delicious, gluten-free treat!
- 1/2 cup ghee or butter melted
- 1/2 cup cacao powder
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup coconut sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup cassava flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup full-fat coconut milk
- 1/4 cup ghee or butter
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup coconut sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
- 1/2 cup pecans chopped
-
Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8x8 baking pan.
-
Combine the brownie ingredients together and mix until everything is well combined (you can use a blender if desired). Pour the mixture in the baking pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the center of the brownies is set.
-
Make the icing. Add the coconut milk, ghee, egg yolks and coconut sugar to a saucepan over low heat. Whisk constantly until the sauce begins to thicken.
-
Remove from heat and add in the vanilla and salt and whisk until combined. Stir in the shredded coconut and pecans. Let cool for 5 minutes.
-
Spread the icing over the top of the brownies. Let the brownies cool before slicing. Serve and enjoy!
