This recipe comes from failures. After a failed attempt of making ravioli, and another failed attempt at making calzones, I had some leftover marinara sauce. After eating a bunch of it, I thought “well, this turned out pretty darn good!”
Use this for pizzas, spaghetti, dipping sauce, or whatever you’d like!

- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 yellow onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 14 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp chopped basil
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
-
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent (about 3 minutes).
-
Add the tomatoes and spices, and stir for 5 minutes, blending everything together well.
-
Remove from heat and use.
