Well, it has been quite some time since I have updated my website in any way.  If you follow me on YouTube, I have been more active on that platform.  But so many things have been going on to keep me from regularly updating my blog.

If you’ve been following me on YouTube, you know that I have a condition called Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome (SCDS).  My symptoms started to present themselves after a surgery that was supposed to fix a Cerebrospinal fluid leak (CSF Leak), which I blogged about.  It didn’t.

My symptoms were severely affecting my quality of life.  I had migraines frequently.  I had vertigo and balance issues (every day I felt like I was walking on a cruise ship).  I had chronic fatigue and brain fog.  I could hear my eyeballs move, my heartbeat, and my footsteps pounding in my head.  My voice was unbearably loud in my head.  Loud noises made me dizzy.
So I had surgery in November 2020 to correct the dehiscence.

Vlog 11: Finally Home After Surgery
Everything was going well until I developed a staph infection in my head and had to rush to the emergency room, and on Christmas Eve 2020 I had surgery to remove the infection.  They also had to remove part of my skull because the infection was touching it.  I had to have a PICC line put into my arm to administer IV antibiotics three times a day for six weeks.  I was never so happy than to get that thing taken out of my arm!

Unfortunately, after this surgery, my symptoms came back with a vengeance.  I think they had to remove the fix that was done due to the infection.  Since that surgery I have been dealing with all of the above symptoms, plus constant loud tinnitus in my right ear.  Watch my “Spend a Minute in My Head” video to get a glimpse of what I hear on a daily basis.

But, life still goes on.  A lot of life changes happened during this time as well.  I graduated from college with my Bachelors Degree in Information Technology and started a new job as a software developer in test.

My husband and I moved into a new house!

And one of the biggest changes to our family was adding on an additional member.  We got a new puppy named Loki!

And I also started a book blog at WhatJoRead.com.

And that’s basically everything, in a nutshell.  At this moment in my life, I am reading a lot of books, playing with Loki and planning his first birthday party, and waiting to finally have my surgery, which will be on June 23, 2022.

I am hoping that after my surgery I will get some of my energy back and be able to update the website more often.  Be sure to follow on YouTube if you want more frequent updates!  I thank you all for your support and hope everyone is doing well!
