I haven’t really talked about running in a while.

I hadn’t made that much progress as far as C25K goes, but this past weekend I ran on the treadmill and ended up running 3.25 miles! That is the furthest that I have ever run in my life. Granted, it was on the treadmill so it was much easier than running out on the road, even though I ran on at least a .5 incline the whole time. But still, it was a huge accomplishment for me!

I wasn’t able to do that much out on the road on Monday though.

Last night, I decided to run the 2 mile SARR (San Antonio Road Runners) Wednesday night Zoo Run. I have always wanted to go run it with everyone, and this was the last time this year that they will do the run until April. I figured now I could probably do a 2 miler now.

I finished, but barely. I started to get a stomach cramp about 1.5 miles into it and was very tempted to slow down to a walk, but kept going, and finished the run at 19:03.

The run isn’t actually through the zoo, it’s at Brackenridge park on the trails there next to the zoo. Some of the SARR members are at different checkpoints throughout the run and cheer you on and encourage you while you run past them. I really like that they did this, it gave me a little extra push to hear someone else cheering me on and say “You’re doing great! Keep going! You’re almost there!”

After the run, they gave out awards to each of the age groups, door prizes, and served food and drinks. And I got first place for females in my age group!

(I won’t say how many recorded times were in my age group) 😉
I probably would have done a little better if I hadn’t cramped up during the run, but I finished! Progress!

Overall, I’m glad that I decided to go. It was a fun run and it’s motivating to run with a big group of people.

  1. Congrats on your running! You finished that run with a great time, too.
