Hello and welcome to Fit Happy Free! My name is Jordan and I live in Austin with my husband and my fur-babies. I am a full-time Software Developer Engineer in Test, and I enjoy swimming, yoga, reading, red wine, and spending time with my family. I have two dogs named Loki and Ember, and three cats named Ludo, Wallowitz and Daisy.
I grew up struggling to find balance and a healthy lifestyle. I spent most of my adolescence as an overweight, binge-eating, sugar-addicted girl with high cholesterol, and battled with depression, anxiety and insomnia. I then spent my 20’s obsessed with my body-image and struggling with restrictive eating, anorexia, bulimia, and compulsive over-exercising. You can read more of my eating disorder and recovery story here.
I began this blog after recovery in 2012 when I began my journey to a healthier, happier lifestyle; focusing more on my physical and mental health than my weight and size. Over the years I have evolved from doing various forms of fitness and eating different types of diets to finding my balance and happiness. I started out eating mostly paleo and gluten-free, and now I focus on eating real, whole foods and not overly restricting myself. For fitness I have found a passion for yoga, and it has helped me tremendously in loving and accepting my body, and staying in tune with it. I also love to swim.
I am also a 4-time craniotomy survivor. I have a condition called Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome (SCDS), which means there is a dehiscence or a thinning in the semicircular canal. This condition lead to symptoms like migraines, vertigo, balance issues, autophony, and hearing inner sounds such as my eye movements, heartbeat, footsteps, and other things. I began vlogging about my journey and surgeries on YouTube to bring awareness to this lesser-known condition. You can find all my SCDS videos on This Playlist.
I hope you find my content helpful or enlightening. Be fit, happy and free!
